Women Skills Development Training: Session 2

On 23 November 2012, Africa Unite held the second Skills Development Training for 36 women at the Catholic Welfare Development Offices in Phillipi. The training went from 10am until 2pm. The following are some of the topics covered:

  • Different Types of Business
  • Getting Ready for Business
  • Market Research
  • Customer Research
  • Cost and Price

The women were very attentive and had questions. They wanted to understand more on the different types of business, which is why the facilitator started with that particular topic. The facilitator went back and traced the origins of business with the women.

The women had the following to say:

” The facilitator was very good and he spoke in a way we all understood him.”

“I have a better understanding of business, I am enjoying this and i am learning a lot. I feel confident that by the end of the training sessions I will be able to start my own business and actually make it work.”

The meeting ended with Africa Unite wishing the ladies happy holidays as this was the last session of the year. Most of the ladies indicated that they would not be there next week as they will be traveling home, while some are preparing to travel.

The next session will be held early January.
