Youth & State of the Nation Address

Government Communication & Information System (GCIS) in partnership with Africa Unite will be hosting a live viewing of the State of the Nation Address (on a big screen) with a group of learners from grade 10 drawn from various schools in Nyanga, New Cross Road, and Gugulethu.

Venue: Zolani Centre

Date: 14 February 2013

Time: 18h00.

The aim is to stimulate young people to listen to issues of national interest in order for them to participate in debate, particularly on issues that concern them.

We are also hoping that the same group of youths can convene again after two weeks to analyse the President’s address, highlighting issues that have relevance to them. Later in the year, the learners will be able to monitor the implementation of the programmes arising from the state of Nation with relevant departments and other stakeholders such as local councillors.
